10 July - The UK’s National Crime Agency (NCA) announced the arrest of a 20-year-old woman in Staffordshire and the detention of three males - aged between 17 and 19 - in London and the West Midlands: Four arrested in connection with M&S and Co-op cyber attacks - BBC News

10 July - Ireland’s Data Protection Commission launched a second GDPR inquiry into TikTok after the video app admitted that a limited amount of European user data were temporarily stored on Chinese servers, contradicting earlier statements. 15 July – The BBC reported that thousands of Afghans have moved to the UK under a secret scheme which was set up after a British official inadvertently leaked their data. In February 2022, the personal details of nearly 19,000 people who had applied to move to the UK after the Taliban seized power in Afghanistan were leaked:  Secret Afghan relocation scheme set up after major data breach - BBC News

15 July – The UK’s data protection watchdog has also issued a statement in relation to the Ministry of Defence’s data leak: ICO statement in response to 2022 MoD data breach | ICO

21 July – One weak password is believed to have been all it took for a ransomware gang to destroy, KNP, a Northamptonshire-based transport company and put 700 people out of work: Weak password allowed hackers to sink a 158-year-old company - BBC News
