Guernsey’s Office of the Data Protection Authority (ODPA) is proud to host the British, Ireland and Islands Data Protection Authorities (BIIDPA) 2025 meeting at the end of June.
The occasion will see delegates from the data protection authorities of Bermuda, the Cayman Islands, Cyprus, Gibraltar, Ireland, Isle of Man, Jersey, Malta and the United Kingdom converge on Guernsey for the annual two-day event, which took place in Larnaca, Cyprus last year.
While cooperation between the members of BIIDPA takes place throughout the year, the annual meeting is a key gathering of leaders in the data protection field, as the ODPA and its partners aim to draw on their collective expertise towards enhancing their ability to serve their jurisdictions.
Taking place over two days from Wednesday 25 June, this year’s agenda includes children’s privacy, compassionate compliance and effective outreach strategies.
A key session will focus on regulation and cooperation between Financial Services jurisdictions and how working together at a regulatory level can enhance compliance in this vital sector.
“We are honoured to host this year’s data protection summit and look forward to building strategies to best protect the privacy rights of our citizens,” said Data Protection Commissioner Brent Homan,
“Many of our partners also represent global financial hubs and speaking with a united voice will only further our collective interests.”
The Lieutenant-Governor of Guernsey General Richard Cripwell CB, CBE will officially open the meeting and welcome attendees.
This event is also an opportunity to showcase the Bailiwick’s unique culture and landscape and delegates will have the opportunity to visit Herm Island and Victor Hugo House as part of the visit.
