Data protection drop-in for Alderney residents and businesses

Published: 26 March 2024

Following the success of last year’s visit to Alderney to promote data protection rights within the local community, the Office of the Data Protection Authority (ODPA) is holding another drop-in this spring.

The aim is to ensure that people in Alderney are informed about their rights, obligations, and can access the support they need.

The drop-in session takes place at the Georgian House on Friday 12 April from 2 – 4pm. It is open to anyone with questions about privacy and data protection. All sectors of Alderney’s community are welcome to attend.

It will be the first time that Bailiwick Data Protection Commissioner Brent Homan has travelled to Alderney, and he is very much looking forward to meeting its residents and businesses:

"Alderney is a vital part of the Bailiwick, and local businesses handle significant volumes of the personal data that flows through our islands.
Data Protection plays an important role in our economy and supports our reputation as a jurisdiction committed to maintaining the highest standards.
We also want to ensure that Alderney’s regulated community benefits from the same one-to-one support as their Guernsey counterparts.”

Anyone planning to attend the drop-in session who has a specific topic they would like to discuss, or who would like to book a specific time slot, is encouraged to contact the ODPA in advance by emailing communications@odpa.gg.
