The Office of the Data Protection Authority is partnering with the Association of Guernsey Charities to offer a tailored data protection session at the Digital Greenhouse for local charities to help them navigate their legal obligations. Aimed at staff and volunteers with little or no specialist data protection knowledge, we want people to come away from this session with a sense of how data protection works in practice and particularly how to look after people’s personal data within the third sector, where information held and processed may be particularly sensitive.
This event will be led by Deputy Data Protection Commissioner Rachel Masterton and Investigator Thomas Elliott. Rachel oversees the investigation and resolution of complaints and the provision of advice and guidance to organisations and members of the public. Thomas is a former Digital Media Investigator at the Guernsey Police Hi-Tech Crime Unit where he was in charge of investigating Cyber Crime among other things.
Space at this event is very limited, please email development@charity.org.gg if you wish to attend.
