Complaint Intake & Resolution Officer
Salary circa £40,000
The Office of the Data Protection Authority (ODPA) is seeking a professional, organised and empathetic individual to join its Compliance & Resolution team.
As the independent supervisory authority responsible for upholding data protection and information rights legislation across the Bailiwick of Guernsey, the ODPA plays a vital role in protecting the rights of islanders and supporting organisations to meet their legal obligations.
About the role
In this role, you will assess complaints and enquiries received by the Authority, engage with complainants and organisations, and help resolve matters efficiently, fairly and proportionately. You will review information, explain decisions and processes clearly, maintain accurate case records and contribute to positive outcomes through early resolution and engagement.
We are looking for someone who:
- Has excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Demonstrates strong customer service and interpersonal skills.
- Can handle sensitive and sometimes challenging situations with professionalism, empathy and discretion.
- Is well organised, methodical and able to manage competing priorities.
- Can analyse information objectively and exercise sound judgement.
- Has experience dealing with complaints, enquiries, disputes, casework or customer-facing matters.
- Is comfortable explaining complex concepts in a clear and accessible way.
- Experience in a regulatory, compliance, public sector, complaints handling or dispute resolution environment would be advantageous, as would knowledge of data protection legislation.
