Since the ODPA registration window opened on 1 January, the following direct registrations have been received: 50 large businesses (50 or more staff), over 2,200 small businesses (<49 staff) and over 500 charities/not-for-profits. In addition to these direct registrations, over 3,000 entities have registered via a Levy Collection Agent.‘The simple act of registering does not make an entity compliant with the law as it is just the first step in the process of engagement and responsibility. How businesses treat people’s data is vitally important as it builds trust and confidence with their customers, staff and other people whose data they use. Data is and will continue to be the life blood of all sectors and activities.’
