Launch of the New Data Protection Law and the Data Protection Authority

Thank you to all who attended the launch of the new Data Protection (Bailiwick of Guernsey) Law, 2017 which comes into force today. 

The launch event provided the opportunity for attendees to meet the Chair and Members of the new Data Protection Authority.

The Authority that was inaugurated today had its first official meeting this morning at which it ratified decisions made yesterday when it met in its shadow capacity.  The Authority brings together Members with a range of skills and expertise from business, government and the regulatory environment from Guernsey, the UK and the EU and will provide governance and support to the Office of the Data Protection Commissioner.
